Architecture

A deckchair with a an unparalelled panorama. A mountain view to wake up to. Your skis parked on the sunlit terrace while you order a plate of pasta. A good book in every corner. Sunset swimming in the open air. A weekend without a car in sight. A weekend of pure perfection. It’s fair to say, we recommend the Icaro Hotel.

The hotel is full of colour and beautiful details

Icaro Hotel

Alpine joie de vivre

As soon as we catch sight of the Icaro’s striking wooden facade, surrounded by nothing but nature and mountain peaks, we feel the urge to settle into its cosy rooms.

The hotel blends architecture, design and art, offering a mix of patterns, warmth and even a few hunting trophies. The balconies are the place to be in summer and winter alike, and the best mountain huts are just a short walk away. Only overnight guests are permitted to drive up; everyone else takes the cable car.

Oh yes, that’s the view.
Built in 1936, redesigned in 2021 – timeless on the Seiser Alm

To the south, the roof opens wide, almost protective. Inside, every object sits with intention. Art, materials and light come together not as decoration, but as a lived-in composition. A Gesamtkunstwerk, yes – but one you can actually settle into for a while.

Wellness flows easily inside: an indoor-outdoor pool, the sauna, mountain-herb steam bath and generous spa rituals invite you to linger when the light softens.
Colours everywhere

Icaro Hotel

An eclectic cabinet of curiosities

The Icaro Hotel is full of colour and beautiful details. And it’s the perfect starting point for hiking, skiing and cross-country skiing adventures.

Since 2021, Icaro presents itself as a reborn refuge on the sunny plateau. Under a striking new façade by Modus Architects, the old alpine shelter turned boutique hotel now stands out like a sculptural vignette against the jagged Dolomite peaks. Inside, wooden textures meet contemporary art and panoramic windows: the design respects the landscape while giving it a fresh frame.

Wellness flows easily inside: an indoor-outdoor pool, the sauna, mountain-herb steam bath and generous spa rituals invite you to linger when the light softens. Surrounded by the Denti di Terrarossa, Sassolungo and Sciliar mountains, you can sleep, swim and dine with a view.

Here, architecture, nature and ease come together.

The location

Only overnight guests are permitted to drive here in the middle of the Alpe di Siusi nature reserve; the rest come by cable car. The best way to reach this much-loved destination is with the blue Alpe di Siusi gondola. Or better yet, take a horsedrawn carriage ride from Compaccio. This mode of travel not only provides scenic views but also allows you to gather the best local tips from your driver.
