The farm is a place to pause. Where everything seems to stop – the clock, the car. Where the mind slows down and you begin to see again what it is actually about. You sleep well here. You eat well here. And that settles somewhere deep inside you.

Everyone has their place here. Christine looks after the rooms and the breakfast table. Bernd takes care of the farm. Selma and Johann, who are lucky enough to grow up at Karerhof, look after the young animals and test out everything between the hayloft and the fruit trees.
The cattle spend winter at the farm and summer on the alpine pasture. A few pigs live well here. The hens lay the breakfast eggs. The bees make the honey. Rabbits, cats and tiny goats bring their own kind of joy. And Clara, the pony, does too.
The farm is small. Because what is produced here is meant for the family and the guests. Meat, speck, sausages, eggs, dairy, juices, jams, herbal salts. A little of everything you might hope for.
Bernd and Christine are hosts with heart. They pass on what has always been good here. To their children. To their guests. The knowledge of herbs. Of animals. Of the land that surrounds them.

There are corners everywhere to stay a little longer. In the hay bed or the quiet room. By the fire. Everyone finds their place here. Their moment. A small sense of peace.
You arrive as a couple or as a family. And then you begin. Christine and Bernd know where to go. They give you the right tips – a hike, a mountain hut with wooden benches worn smooth. Or skiing, if you feel like it. But Karerhof is just as much the perfect starting point for doing nothing at all. For breathing in farm life.
A holiday on a farm, at least here, feels like being held by nature. The too much, the too fast, the too loud, the too bright – that exists somewhere else. We look up at the night sky above Rosengarten and Latemar.
It is simply good. Simply magic.
The bathtubs are placed exactly right. With a mountain view, of course. One even stands outside on the balcony – the best spot for the last light of the day. Karerhof is the perfect starting point for doing nothing at all.

The location
Five hundred metres from Lake Carezza, surrounded by alpine meadows and open mountain views, Karerhof feels secluded without being remote. Bolzano lies just twenty minutes away, though it rarely comes to mind.
Hiking and biking trails begin at the doorstep, and the Carezza ski area is only minutes away.
