Architecture

If you love Bregenzerwald architecture and the taste of home made Käsknöple, Tempel is the place for you. We could list 74 reasons to visit Mellau, but we’ll stick to the most important ones.

Evi Haller is a hostess with heart, soul and the very best Knödel bread dumplings.
Wood, concrete, the Bregenzerwälder way.

Tempel 74

Bregenzerwald,
done properly

This is where exposed concrete and wooden shingles coexist in harmony, like the traditional farmhouse and its modern counterpart. Where architecture and nature come together perfectly. This is a wonderful place to spend your holidays.

Architect Jürgen Haller’s architectural firm, where he passionately philosophises on the art of construction, is located in the residential building. He loves talking to interested guests, who he takes on a tour of the unspoilt surroundings to learn about architecture.

Evi looks after her guests in the house, occasionally cooking in the shared lounge and dining area that connects the two silvery wooden houses.

Craft, comfort,
Kanisfluh

From the windows, you can see the imposing massif, the legendary Kanisfluh, which has a magical way of attracting hikers. Ensuring there’s a warm atmosphere and high-quality design in the guest rooms is essential to both hosts. After all, that’s what makes being a guest in Bregenzerwald so particularly cosy.

It smells of wood and fresh herbs, and the fridges are filled with the finest products. In minutes, you can enjoy some homemade ice cream or vegetarian chilli jarred by head chef Wolfgang Mätzler.

Sauna with a moutain view.

And that’s exactly what guests enjoy so much here: the option to do it all without obligation, the wonderful breakfast service, the proximity to nature, the sauna with a view of the mountain peaks peering out from the fog, and the feeling that you are always taken care of, whilst still being able to enjoy time to yourself for once.
