Architecture

Vigilius

Architecture that grows out of the mountain itself – wood, stone, silence. Matteo Thun’s vision turns vigilius into a place that doesn’t dominate nature, but disappears into it.

Architecture

The journey to the hotel is just the sort of thing we love: You can only reach the Vigilius by cable car. This means you will arrive at the top without the weight of any excess baggage. By the time you step through the entrance door – if not before – you will feel relaxed and grounded.

Matteo Thun’s mountain sanctuary: pure and honest.

Rooms

Simply be

Matteo Thun has designed a hotel that blends effortlessly into its scenery. This place feels alive and profound, surrounded by the nature that influences it. In 2003, the architect pioneered sustainability here, and soon guests came flocking, guests made for the Vigilius.

The place feels authentic, straightforward and pure. No one and nothing puts on an act here, at most the rays of sunshine as they perform with the curtains in the wind. In this seemingly timeless place, you can relax and watch the day go by. Let the warm spring water flow around you, reflecting the larch forest on its surface.

Nothing here performs. Except the sunlight.

Where nature sets the rhythm

There’s no place like it. The Vigilius Mountain Resort is a creative place where writers seek their special spots, where artists and lovers of architecture and design feel at home. It’s a place to retreat, a hideaway in the forest.

A hotel you reach by floating and leave lighter than you arrived.
Respect for the material, for time itself.

Vigilius

Feel grounded

Since 2019, under the guidance of Ingrid Ladurner and her dedicated team, Vigilius has continued to live its founding credo: eco, not ego. Beneath larch-wood panelling, silver quartzite and wide glass façades, architecture and alpine wilderness merge almost imperceptibly.

Inside, the spa unfolds – spring-water pools, steam baths and calm sauna sessions reflecting a holistic sense of wellness rooted in the surrounding forest. Daylight spills in through panoramic windows. And by night, Wi-Fi is switched off and televisions remain absent. Guests are invited to surrender to silence, to the crackle of larch in the forest, or the soft whisper of winter snow.

Let the warm spring water flow around you.

Vigilius is a home within nature: a place where architecture bows instead of standing out, and where every detail reflects respect – for the land, for the material, for time itself. Those who arrive by cable car arrive lighter. And leave renewed.
