In the centre of Lech, just opposite the legendary Hotel Arlberg, a remarkable door opened a winter ago. Not metaphorically. A real one. A heavy wooden door in traditional Bregenzerwald style. Push it open and you enter a small world of its own. Restaurant. Champagne bar. Concept store. The Arlberg Club House – a new gathering place in the village. For friends, families, mountain enthusiasts, après-skiers and pleasure hikers alike. A house built around a simple idea: bringing people together. Or as the house itself puts it: Celebrating the Good Mountain Life.

Arlberg Club House
Our connection to the project began next door. When Benjamin Schneider and Patrick Krummenacher took over the Hotel Arlberg as the new generation, we worked with them on the rebranding of the house – one of the defining projects for our studio Bureau Rabensteiner, the design practice behind Montamont. What people know today as Montamont grew out of exactly this kind of work: shaping alpine places through concept, design and narrative.
The Hotel Arlberg itself hardly needs an introduction. One of Lech’s grand institutions, run by the Schneider family for generations. Even Lady Diana once spent her ski holidays here with her sons. But what makes the house special is something harder to define: hospitality that feels effortless. International in reputation, yet unmistakably familial. When Benjamin and Patrick began imagining a new place across the street – younger, more contemporary, but still rooted in the Arlberg – the collaboration continued naturally. The result is the Arlberg Club House.

The concept of the house is wonderfully simple. Restaurant at its heart. Champagne bar downstairs. Concept store upstairs. Or, in the language of the brand: Eat. Dress. Party. like an Alpinist.

Eat. Dress. PArty.
Lunch after skiing on the terrace. Mediterranean flavours framed by the snowy silhouette of the Omeshorn. Italian classics with a French twist appear on the menu – spaghetti Cacio e Pepe, the occasional lobster or simply the best pizza you have tasted. Good days on the mountain tend to continue here. First another glass of wine. Then perhaps a cocktail downstairs. Eventually someone suggests Champagne. Lech evenings have a habit of stretching.
Upstairs, the concept store introduces a curated selection of fashion and objects that feel connected to the mountains but belong equally in Milan, Paris or Zurich. A selection with personality. Brands like Aztech Mountain, Fortela, Iris von Arnim, Perfumer H or Offfhand Jewelry line the shelves. The space is light-filled, almost airy. There’s a small café corner for a pause: matcha, coffee, a moment on the terrace. A place to find your mountain souvenir – for others, or just for yourself. The kind of shopping we like. Patrick is around, if you need him.

The interior by Bernd Gruber sets the stage. The design brings together travertine, lacquered woods and curved forms with classic Alpine materials – creating a space that feels both elegant and relaxed. Somewhere between an alpine living room and an international clubhouse.

Mediteranean meets alpine
Working closely together with the interior designers Philipp Hoflehner and Matthias Raggl from Bernd Gruber, we translated this atmosphere into the brand world of the house. Mediterranean ease meets Alpine character. A touch of nostalgia meets contemporary clarity. The colour palette says it all: Champagne. Caramel. Marron. Lobster Orange. Warm tones that now feel unmistakably Arlberg Club House.
To bring the narrative to life visually, French illustrator Jean-Michel Tixier joined the project – adding a playful layer to the brand with characters drifting between restaurant, store and club. Skiers, diners, late-night guests. Almost as if the house itself had begun telling stories.

One Year later
Places like the Arlberg Club House are becoming rare. Spaces where friends, families and like-minded people actually gather. Where evenings start spontaneously and end a little later than expected. Fine dining, café culture, Champagne bar and concept store – all under one roof in the centre of Lech.
One winter later the house already feels as if it had always belonged here. A natural complement to the village. And to the Hotel Arlberg next door. Different in spirit perhaps. But sharing the same idea of hospitality. Push open the door. There is usually a table somewhere.
Celebrating the Good Mountain Life. Ever since.
