Linard Lavin
In the heart of Lavin, a pink palazzo blends urban spirit with mountain air. A cultural haven shaped by Hans Schmid. Now entering its final chapter under his care, it carries its stories toward a new future.

+ 23 rooms & suites
Author and artist Hans Schmid has succeeded in creating the perfect blend of urban spirit and mountain air. There are rooms for thinking and working – designed by various artists – that contain traces of history, rekindling the charm of simplicity with style and emotion.

Linard Lavin
Pink grandeur
The large beds are surrounded by art and beautiful pieces of furniture. Dinner served in the dining room or on the small terrace is incredible. The cuisine is passionate, creative, honest and delicious and typical specialities are expertly imbued with new ideas.
We love this place, as you can probably tell. But its current era is coming to an end: in spring 2026, Hans Schmid will hand over his establishment to new owners and, during the transition period, run it as a Viennese coffeehouse complete with literature, goulash, piano music, coffee and cake.

Special corners and cosy places abound here. The neighbouring Chasa Bastiann, with its dreamy garden, offers additional space to linger – for concerts, readings and wholesome moments. And one or two sun loungers among the blooming hydrangeas to enjoy an ice cream when the weather is just right.

The next chapter
We can’t wait to see what this last chapter will hold – and how and by whom the history of this building, which already holds so many stories within its walls, will be continued into the future.
This beautiful and important place is no longer something to be taken for granted. Everyone is now invited to take part in shaping its future. You can find the call for applications here.

The location
Even without an event taking place, the pink terrace is always worth a stop on your journey to Lower Engadine.
