Freiburger Hütte
From Lech, a toll road, which is closed during parts of the day, leads up to the Formarinalpe. Or you can take the bus through the Zugertal valley to Formarinsee lake. From there, you can reach the mountain hut in about an hour’s walk.

Several beautiful hiking trails lead up to this place 1,931 metres above sea level, where gentians and orchids bloom, and the Formarinsee lake lies at your feet. Nature here is wild, untouched, treated with respect and managed sustainably.

Freiburger Hütte
A hideaway in the mountains
In a dormitory or a room for two, you can hide away up here for days on end. For the past seven summers, innkeepers Kathi and Flo and their team have made sure that their guests are only served the very best local food. All the dishes here are freshly prepared and baked or cooked in-house from regional, organic ingredients that are good for body and soul. Even the syrup at the bar is homemade, and the Topfenschmarrn (torn curd pancake dish) is worth the effort of hiking up here.

When you’re sprawled out on the sun terrace, full and content, you can look up at the Rote Wand, knowing that you’ve reached its summit.

The location
From the forest parking lot, you can continue on foot or by mountain cab. The inn is located in a place that successfully avoids car traffic.
